Biografija prof. Danijela Gajsa

Daniel Geiß is one of the most versatile musicians of his generation.  Born in Essen, he studied violoncello with Janos Starker and Maria Kliegel, conducting with David Effron and Michael Luig, chamber music with Menahem Pressler, the Alban Berg Quartet, George Crumb and Philipp Glass.
 Daniel Geiß is a regular guest at various chamber music festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Rheingau Music Festival, the Mosel Music Festival, the Savannah Music Festival, the Prague Music Festival, the Bristol Proms, the Porto Music Festival, the Tokyo Spring Festival.  His chamber music partners include such musicians as Daniel Hope, Lynn Harrell, Sebastian Knauer, Jacques Ammon, the Danish String Quartet and Nigel Kennedy.  He has worked with conductors such as Kirill Petrenko, Christian Thielemann, Kurt Masur and Marek Janowski and is a member of the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra.
 As a conductor, he made his debut in 2013 in the Berlin Philharmonic hall and at the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires with the baroque ensemble L'arte del mondo.  In 2016 he conducted a concert of the Zurich Chamber Orchestra with Daniel Hope at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, which was recorded for the movie "The Sound of Life".  Other appearances took him to Budapest, Linz, Ljubljana, St. Petersburg and Graz in 2018.  In 2019 he conducted at the Springfestival in Tokyo, at the Leipzig Music Festival, will take over the direction of the Bundesmusikschulorchester and in the spring of 2020 will conduct at the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Staatstheater Wiesbaden.

 Daniel Geiß teaches violoncello at the school of music Mainz and the Peter Cormelius Conservatory Mainz . He gives masterclasses in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Portugal and Russia.
 He has been the artistic director of the innovative teaching concept KLANGLABOR since 2014, a visionary project for orchestral education, which holds Projects ia. in Mainz, Graz, Dortmund, Lucerne, Heidenheim (as part of the Opera Festival), Montepulciano and Leipzig. Since 2018 he is also conductor of the EUphony orchestra project and will this year conduct the German student orchestra. From 2020 on, he succeeded in successfully installing the Klanglabor as part of the UAE's orchestral education program in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, also outside Europe.
 In September 2019 he is also invited as a professor to the Daniel Hope Academy in Schloss Neuhardenberg.

 

Cellothon Music Festival




- The Cellothon Music Festival was conceived as a continual project that takes place throughout the year.
- The Festival’s central event is a concert marathon featuring young violoncellists less than 30 years of age, to take place every October. This year, the concert is scheduled to take place on 20 October from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the auditorium of the Stanković School of Music in Belgrade.
- A jury of experts will select the most accomplished performance and present it with a plaquette and cash prize of 50,000 Serbian Dinars. Only one prize will be awarded.
- The performance that receives the most number of votes from the audience will be awarded a plaquette and a cash prize of 20,000 Serbian Dinars. Only one prize will be awarded.
- The Festival’s secondary events will feature continual master classes and concerts by renowned violoncellists.
Every year, the Festival will appeal to its sponsors and the general public to collect enough funds to purchase a violoncello or a bow and donate it to a deserving institution or individual.
- The Cellothon Music Festival is an independent event, funded exclusively from donations from its participants, sponsors, as well as interested members of the general public.
How to apply to perform at the first Cellothon concert:
Participants at the Cellothon concert aged 10 or younger may perform a single piece of their choosing no longer than 5 minutes in duration.
Participants at the Cellothon concert aged 10 to 20 may perform a piece of their choosing no longer than 10 minutes in duration.
- Participants at the Cellothon concert aged 20 to 30 may perform a piece of their choosing no longer than 15 minutes in duration.
All participants may perform solo or as part of a chamber ensemble.

- Muzički festival Cellothon osmišljen je kao kontinuirani projekat koji se odvija tokom cele godine.

- Centralni događaj Festivala je maratonski koncert mladih violončelista do 30 godina starosti, koji će se održavati svakog oktobra. Ove godine, taj koncert je zakazan za 20. oktobar od 18h do 21h u Svečanoj sali muzičke škole "Stanković" u Beogradu.

- Po oceni stručnog žirija, najuspešniji nastup na Cellothon koncertu biće nagrađen plaketom i novčanim iznosom od 50.000 dinara. Dodeljuje se jedna nagrada.

- Nastup na Cellothon koncertu sa najvećim brojem glasova publike biće nagrađen plaketom i novčanim iznosom od 20.000 dinara. Dodeljuje se jedna nagrada.

- Prateći događaji Festivala su kontinuirani majstorski kursevi i koncerti renomiranih violončelista.


Svake godine, muzički festival Cellothon će uz pomoć sponzora i građana pokušati da prikupi sredstva koja će biti usmerena na kupovinu jednog violončela ili gudala određenoj instituciji ili pojedincu.

- Muzički festival Cellothon je nezavisna manifestacija i finansira se isključivo iz donacija učesnika Festivala, sponzora, kao i zainteresovanih građana.
